Alfredo (Tico) Murillo

Baja Sea Kayaking Guide & Panguero

Alfredo “Tico” Murillo González is a Baja California Sur based sea kayak guide and panguero from Puerto San Carlos, a fishing town on Bahía Magdalena. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Alternative Tourism from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), completing his studies in Loreto and La Paz.

He began his career on the water in 2016, working his way from general crew to deckhand, captain, and kayak guide. Raised in a multi-generational fishing family, Alfredo brings a deep understanding of coastal life and ocean conditions to every trip.

Tico enjoys guiding because it allows him to continue learning from the sea while sharing Baja in a respectful and meaningful way. His approach blends safety, local knowledge, and a strong sense of place. Outside of guiding, he enjoys soccer, spearfishing, kayaking, fishing, and exploring new landscapes.

"Everything about the Loreto five day kayak trip was perfect. Such wonderful guides, exceptional paddling opportunities, beautiful camp sites, delicious food, great hikes, and a terrific group of people to share the trip with. The dolphins and snorkeling were bonuses I couldn't have imagined. Thank you to Rafa, Lorena, Tiko and Nathan for making this such a memorable trip."
